Shriver
and Holland Associates planned and designed renovations for the Eastern Virginia
Medical School to be used as research laboratories for the Jones Institute for
Reproductive Medicine. This project consists of the interior reconstruction
of 20,000 SF and includes 12 research laboratories for the disciplines of Andrology,
Immunology, Tissue Culture, Bio- Chemistry, Physiology, and Micromanipulation.
An animal research area including animal holding spaces and a necropsy room
is also provided, and a biological containment laboratory completes the research
space. Supporting spaces include a specimen collection area, glassware processing,
a treated water center, offices, and employee facilities. The project was designed
and produced on a fast track schedule.
