


Shriver and Holland Associates provided complete site development, preplanning and design of Phase I of the new Oliver K. Hobbs Campus for Paul D. Camp Community College. Located on a 23.5-acre site in the western part of Suffolk, Virginia, the new 33,365 SF, classroom and vocational training building represents Phase I of a three-phase project. The new building houses general classrooms, vocational labs for business and industry, computer and science laboratories, and faculty and administrative offices. The new library provides direct computer linkup to university research libraries in Virginia. The economical construction single story contextual design facility utilizes a standing seam metal roof on pre-fabricated wood trusses, load bearing masonry walls, and brick veneer. Heating and cooling for this Virginia Capital Outlay project is provided by a four pipe mechanical system. Site development includes future planning for pedestrian and vehicular circulation, landscaping, storm water management and parking for 180 cars.
