  SHRIVER AND HOLLAND ASSOCIATES
In response to a critical campus housing shortage, Old Dominion University commissioned the design of a major student housing complex on a site with views of the Elizabeth River on the west side of campus. The 127,000 SF Mid-Rise Dormitory consists of two-story residential towers, each containing 154 four-student suites and joined at the ground level by a student commons area with sunken conversation pit and skylight. Adjacent to the central lobby is an outdoor terrace, 400 seat dining hall, and kitchen which provides meals for the residents of a nearby apartment complex as well as dormitory residents.
