SHRIVER AND HOLLAND ASSOCIATES
This 100,000 SF. library is a central element of the campus, both functionally and visually. Designed as a three-story, omni-facial post-tensioned, reinforced concrete frame structure. Large glass areas occur at center bays overlooking the campus directional axes. Program requires access to all library areas from a single central desk and control point. The building accommodates bibliography, reserve, periodical, reference, special and general collections, stack and reading areas, including cataloging, administrative and other support functions. The exterior utilizes materials exposed in poured-in-place reinforced concrete and architectural aggregate precast concrete. The interior also consists of poured-in-place concrete used in columns and slabs as part of the design. Mechanical systems include a dual-duct, high-velocity air distribution system comprising four air-handling units located in roof penthouses.
