Shriver
and Holland Associates provided full architectural and landscape design services
for the design of a contextually sensitive pedestrian walkway that connects
the Sheraton Hotel to the Waterside Marketplace. It provides full access to
the existing pedestrian bridge linking the Sheraton Hotel and the downtown Main
Street business district. Architecturally sympathetic to both the Sheraton Hotel
and The Waterside, this new walkway provides convenient and attractive all weather
protection for circulation between the two major facilities. The project also
includes a new bridge stair/elevator providing ADA compliant access to the pedestrian
bridge at the south end of the existing Sheraton Hotel Bridge spanning Waterside
Drive. The project is the recipient of a Norfolk City Design Review award.
