Planned
as an entrance feature and central element of visitor pickup and drop off area
at the main entrance of Nauticus National Maritime Center, the 18 ft. diameter
globe is defined by a system of stainless steel latitude and longitude bars
with textured stainless steel continents attached. A functional axis is provided
allowing adjustable globe rotation speeds from one revolution per minute to
one revolution per hour above a circular pool with provision for illumination
after dark.
